Christmas Island Style’s Upcoming Events


Christmas Island Style has a number of special holiday happenings planned throughout the month of December. The volunteer group has worked hard all year to bring these activities to the Marco Island community, free of charge. These events have become an island tradition, and many look forward to attending as part of their annual celebrations with friends and family.

On Saturday, December 8 from 6 to 8 PM, the Christmas Island Style Boat Parade returns to the waters around Marco Island. Spend a beautiful evening watching the festive boats sail by, decked out with holiday lights and decorations. The boat parade route can be viewed at www.christmasislandstyle.com.

On Monday, December 10th and Tuesday, December 11th at 7:30 PM, enjoy “Celebrate,” an evening of community Christmas joy with musical entertainment at the Marco Lutheran Church, 525 N. Collier Boulevard.

On Monday, December 10th and Tuesday, December 11th the preliminary judging for the 22nd annual House and Business Christmas Decorating Contest will take place. On Wednesday, December 12th the ten finalists will be selected during the judging portion of the contest, from 6:30-10:30 PM. Property owners are reminded to keep their decorative lights on for all three nights to ensure that the judges have an opportunity to view their decorations. The winners will be announced on December 15.

On Friday, December 14 at 5:30 PM watch the Christmas Movie in the Park, “The Man Who Invented Christmas,” at Veterans Community Park, 901 Park Avenue.

Saturday, December 15 is a special day for local youngsters, who will enjoy Cookies and Milk with Santa from 10 AM to 12 PM at Mackle Park, 1361 Andalusia Terrace.

In the evening of December 15, the Christmas Island Style Street Parade will take place, starting at 6 PM. This annual street parade features live bands, holiday floats and decorated cars traveling a route on San Marco Road, starting at the corner of San Marco and Balfour Drive and ending at the corner of San Marco Road and Barfield Drive.
