The Christmas Island Style festivities began on November 27 when Santa Claus paid the island a visit, arriving by fire truck and greeted by a happy crowd that filled the Shops of Marco. Lucky youngsters had their photos taken with Santa, as they whispered their Christmas toy wishes in his ear. Face painting, coloring and other activities offered entertainment. Late night shopping allowed many parents to work on their holiday lists.
The very next night Veteran’s Park was lit up at the annual tree lighting and community celebration. The park was full of activity, with families and friends camped out on blankets and lawn chairs. A bubble machine delighted the children, looking much like snow. The crowd enjoyed an evening of live music and dance performances.
Brightand early on November 29, the Joy of Giving Motorcycle Run kicked off at the new 701 Bistro restaurant on Bald Eagle Drive. The event had a good turnout again this year. Riders filled the streets, raising money to provide Christmas to underprivileged area children.
There are still more events to come! On Saturday, December 12, at 10:00 AM bring your little ones and enjoy cookies and milk with Santa at Mackle Park. That evening, at 6:30 PM, find yourself a spot along San Marco Road and enjoy the Annual Street Parade.
Get ready to go ice skating! This not-to-be-missed holiday event is coming to Veterans Community Park on Sunday, December 13 from 12-6 PM.
