As Team USA heads home from the 2012 London Olympics, so does one Naples chiropractor who aided our athletes in bringing home gold. Dr. Cade Copeland and his wife Kristen, have just returned to their practice after adjusting athletes from USA Wrestling. Dr. Copeland joined nearly 100 chiropractors from Maximized Living, an international approach to chiropractic care which focuses on uniformity and has been adopted by USA Wrestling, Judo and Weightlifting.
“Pretty close to 100 doctors went, which has never been done before,” explains Dr. Copeland. “Some of the doctors we worked with have been with the US wrestling team for the last 15 years, since the Atlanta Olympics. But this has never been done before, to have this many doctors that are certified to work with these Olympic teams throughout the last four years in preparation for the biggest competition in the world.”
Preparation comes in many forms when adhering to the Maximized Living philosophy which encourages athletes to adhere to the five basic essentials for a complete, healthy lifestyle. This includes regular chiropractic care, a healthy mindset, nutrition, exercise and detox. To Dr. Copeland, the fact that women’s Judo brought home their first ever gold and

“We’ve been doing it long enough that the results are actually seen,” adds Kristen. “It’s not just a belief system anymore, there’s actual results.”
Kayla Harrison, who took home the gold in women’s Judo has been working with Maximized Living doctors for over two years. Dr. Copeland and Kristen had a chance to not only meet her, but hold her prized medal. “She was so thankful afterwards that she spoke to our whole group of doctors saying how grateful she was for our support. To have that affirmation from Olympic athletes and how they understand what we do and how important it is for their body and their performance, that took it to a whole new level for me.”

Just as the returning Olympians are back in training mode and practicing the five essentials, the Copeland’s are also prepping for the 2016 games. “We’ll be traveling in the next few months to continue to support the Maximized Living athletes,” states Dr. Copeland. “I’m fired up about it! I just can’t imagine doing anything different,” he adds. “I’m ready for Rio!”
