Chili Cook Off Returns to CJ’s on the Bay

Hurricane Irma has passed. Now is the time for the Marco Island community to show our great appreciation to the Marco Island

Fire Rescue Department.

The Marco Island Fire Rescue Department’s work has been extraordinary and was non-stop from storm preparation to watching over our community throughout the storm and then, poststorm recovery.

The Jerry Adams Chili Cook Off is THE EVENT for us to gather and support our first responders as only a hometown can do…together! Please come, bring your families and friends and enjoy Five-

Alarm Chili recipes while enjoying a cold one. Listen to great music from the Ben

Allen Band and kick up your heels. The chefs cooking up chili are the fabric of our community, including individuals, fire departments, civic organizations, and the local chefs and businesses participating.

The Marco Island Fire

Rescue Foundation continues the tradition honoring and remembering

Jerry Adams, a 23-year veteran firefighter with Marco Island who lost his battle with cancer in 2012. Jerry fed the department and the island with his famous chili, and it is fitting to have his name on the Cook Off. Ray Ladurini, the top chili chef on the department today continues this firehouse tradition.

CJ’s on the Bay will again be our host on Saturday, October 21st at the ever-popular Esplanade located at 760 N. Collier Boulevard. The boating community can chart Smokehouse Bay in their GPS and radio in on channel 16 to the dock master to be directed to a slip. The fun will run from 12 noon until 4 PM. CJ’s will provide happy hour priced drinks, outside seating and complimentary side dishes to enjoy with your chili tasting.

The popular People’s Choice Awards will be given and new this year will be an Overall Best award determined by a panel of judges from the culinary world and selected from a blind tasting.
