Center for the Arts Gala – Elegance Meets Creativity

During a season of formal events, the Marco Island Center for the Arts annual gala stands apart from the rest. The Gala takes place on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 6 PM at the Marco Island Country Club. The Gala is a fundraiser that supports the Center for the Arts’ mission to promote education and appreciation of the arts.

This year Sue and Russ Darrow are being honored for their dedication and commitment to the Center for the Arts. The Gala is being co-chaired by Emily and John James, Pat and Scot Kaufman, and Rosemary and Michael Wick. Executive Director Hyla Crane and a team of staff and volunteers have been working hard for months to make this spectacular event a success.

Guests will enjoy an elegant evening, beginning with cocktails and a silent auction, filled with unique and beautiful items. Silent auction items include jewelry, artwork, fine wine, hotel stays, and more. Sports fans will have a field day bidding on basketballs signed by LeBron James and Dwayne Wade, and signed memorabilia from Dan Marino, from legendary baseball players, and others.

An elegant dinner, live music by Billy Dean and Dawn, and dancing make this an evening to remember. The Gala committee has also promised some surprises for guests. No details have been given, so you will have to attend The Gala to find out what they are!

The evening will also include an exciting live auction. One of the most beautiful and unique auction items is the “Ribbons of Happiness” painting, created by children ages 7-14 who took “the Coolest Art Class Ever” workshop taught by artist Lee Horton. After the Gala, the painting will be displayed at the NCH Outpatient Rehabilitation Facility on Marco Island, with the name of the successful bidder displayed as the donor.

Proceeds from The Gala fundraiser enable the Marco Island Center for the Arts to bring a wide variety of arts to the community, including visual arts, music, presentations and literature. Through dynamic monthly art exhibitions, engaging educational programs for children and adults and a diverse assortment of events, the Center encourages an appreciation of the arts, while promoting economic growth, collaboration and community cohesion.
