At Stan’s Idle Hour in Goodland, all good things must come to an end, or at least take a summer hiatus. Sunday, July 1st, marked an end to Stan’s Sunday afternoon party atmosphere and good times with their End of Season Bash.
“We rarely miss a Sunday Funday opportunity at Stan’s. There was no way we were going to miss the End of Season Bash,” remarks Marco Islander, Nancy Clark.
The festivities began with the unveiling of a big poster on the center of the stage honoring the unforgettable Queen Mary, who recently passed away on May 23. The Shane Duncan Band and Jeff Hilt entertained the crowd who danced, drank, and enjoyed $5 Buzzard Rum Punch and Margarita specials throughout the afternoon.
“My dad, Stan Gober, and Queen Mary started the Sunday afternoon tradition back in 1982. It is important to keep their legacy honored and alive,” explains owner Steve Gober. “We will be busy taking care of repairs and general maintenance along with scouting and booking new bands for the upcoming season.”
The streets of Goodland will once again be lined with cars, motorcycles, and golf carts starting October 6, when Stan’s reopens.
