Celebrate Winter witrh Song: New Series for Florida Songwriter Showcase

J.Robert’s Florida Songwriter Showcase enjoyed recognition after a successful 13-week Summer Series at the Marco Players Theater on Marco Island.

Now music lovers will have a chance to attend the Winter Series, which will be held at the Southwest Florida Event Center in Bonita Springs.

This first show of the season, on January 8, 2018 from 6:30 – 9:30 PM, will feature Nashville songwriter and retired Collier County EMS first responder, Tim McGeary, as well as nationally recognized Americana favorites, Roy Schneider and Kim Mayfield.

Tim McGeary’s songs have been tapped for such hit television shows as “Smallville,” “One Tree Hill,” and “Glory Days,” as well as the made for HBO film “Girl Got Moe.”

Retired firefighter and paramedic with the Collier County Fire Department, Tim was among the emergency personnel who went to New York to help out at Ground Zero in the wake of 9/11.

Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Roy Schneider has been touring and performing full-time with musical partner Kim Mayfield since 2008, across America, the UK, and parts of Europe. Roy’s last two CD releases have received generous airplay on Americana, Folk and Pandora radio. Notable performance venues include 30A Songwriters Festival, Kerrville NewFolk, Falcon Ridge Emerging Artist, Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe, Yorkshire England’s Mad Fest and NBC’s The Voice. Roy is also a gifted accompanist and has performed onstage with John McEuen, Tom Paxton, and Joe Craven among others.

This event is produced and directed by J.Robert Houghtaling, a songwriter and master fiddler who has developed friendships with many talented songwriters. “Each artist is a treasure trove of stories and songs,” says J.Robert. “The radio plays hit songs…while here we share heart songs!”

February, March, and April shows will feature such songwriters as Ray Cerbone, Gator Nate Martin, Rita Youngman, Michael Oakland, Captn Jac, Terry Lynn Melody, Taylor Freydberg, Marie Nofsinger, and Frank Thomas.
