This small friendly community will have a parade, arts & crafts sale, raffle, contest for best-dressed kiddies, music, and food.
The event kicks off at 9:30 a.m. with the opening ceremony. The theme this year is “Honoring Our Local Veterans” and some of them will make up the color-guard which raises the flag in front of City Hall.
The parade begins to wend its way through the streets at 10:00 a.m. with everyone competing to win a prize for the best float or swamp buggy or golf cart. After that, there will be hot dogs and cold drinks for sale under the pavilion in McLeod Park where the arts & crafts booths will be set up.
The “Little Miss Firecracker” and “Little Mister Firecracker” contests try to find the most patriotically-dressed children. While the judging is taking place, adults are encouraged to buy tickets for a 50/50 raffle which helps support the festivities.
The magnificent display of fireworks starts at 9:00 p.m. and provides a dramatic ending to the day. For more info, phone Elaine at (239) 695-2695
