Christmas Island Style’s first-ever Casino Night brought Vegas-style gambling to the Rose History Auditorium on Saturday, October 17.

A red carpet set the mood, and led guests into the transformed auditorium. Professional casino party planners filled the space with blackjack tables, Texas hold ‘em, three card poker, mini baccarat, casino war, roulette and craps tables. Dealers were patient with the gambling newbies, clearly explaining rules of the games and answering questions.

The bar was sponsored by Morgan Stanley, and manned by Brad Bersh and Lisa Honig. DJ Steve Reynolds provided the music for the evening.

and Christmas Island Style board member Allyson Richards described the festivities: “Everyone was whooping it up and having fun. You could hear people laughing and shouting for winners outside the venue. That is what I consider a great time. We had many great donations from the community for the prize baskets that created such basket fever.”

Christmas Island Style Chairman Steve Stefanides tells us that he has received such positive feedback about Casino Night that islanders can expect to see it again next year. Steve says he was “quite pleased with the event, and people had fun, which is what it is about.” He credited

the hard work of Allyson Richards and all the volunteers for making the Casino Night a success.

Casino Night is one of the many fundraising events that the Christmas Island Style organization holds so that they may bring free holiday events to the island.

Christmas Island Style is the effort of 25 volunteers who “make it all happen,” according to Steve. He tells us that, “All of the events are possible because of private donations and fundraising by the Christmas Island Style Committee, who are all volunteers.” The Christmas Island Style holiday events include the boat parade, street parade, tree lighting and a visit from Santa
