Almost 300 women attended the very successful annual Wine, Women & Shoes fundraiser held by the Cancer Alliance of Naples (CAN) at the Ritz Carlton on January 25. CAN is a grassroots organization that assists cancer patients in this area, whose finances are stressed to the maximum by medical expenses while they are undergoing treatments. Often people are too sick to work, or lose their jobs while caring for a sick relative. When medical bills force people to make choices – gas in the car, food, utility bills or transportation to get to treatment, CAN steps in to lend a hand by helping to pay for daily needs.

Black clad, buff shoe guys strolled around, offering the latest in shoe styles and jewelry on silver platters, enticing the ladies to the boutiques. If guests were not tantalized enough by the silent auction items, there was the live auction offering a trip to a cooking school in Tuscany, a trip to Paris, and a long weekend in the wine country in California.

CAN also announced during the evening, the kickoff for its 2012 Million Dollar Courage Campaign, which would enable it to service many more people and never have to turn away those in need.
