St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Offers Camp Jeffrey As Respite For Challenged’s Caregivers
St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Marco Island offers a camp for challenged or disabled children and young adults on Tuesdays from October through April from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. This serves a respite for the caregivers of the campers.
There are four volunteers who stretch the abilities of the campers gently while engaging them in both physical and mental activities. One of the volunteers brings a therapy Golden Doodle dog. Activities include music, pitch and catch, drawing pictures with crayons, Legos and more. The campers give back to the volunteers when they smile or vocalize.
Currently Camp Jeffrey has two regular campers and a seasonal camper. We are open to having more campers and also would like to expand our volunteer base. The volunteer must take a course given by the Senior Warden of St. Mark’s.
