Calusa Garden Club members Sue Oldershaw and Donna Kay presented a seminar, “Gardening On Our Island,” at the Marco Island Branch of the Collier County Library.
Oldershaw, a 40-year Marco Island gardener and winner of the Marco Beautification Advisory Committee’s Bloom award for landscaping, and Kay, a Collier County Master Gardener, gave an hour-long talk illustrated with over 80 photos of Marco Island home, balcony or lanai and commercial landscapes. The audience members had many questions about native plants, plants that do well in our sub-tropical environment, fertilizers, and how to improve and help sustain our waterways through good landscaping and gardening practices.
