Calusa Garden Club Meets

Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island recently met and over 40 members listened and watched intently as Donna Kay, Master Gardener and Sue Oldershaw, 40-year Marco Island gardener, showed more than 50 colorful slides of trees, home landscapes, and plants of Marco Island and discussed best gardening practices for our Marco Island landscapes.

Also at Monday’s Calusa Garden Club meeting, Margie Bruckman was inducted as a new member. Jackie Purvis, Vice-President of Membership, along with President Sandy Wallen and Bruckman’s sponsor Linda Turner, welcomed Bruckman with a membership certificate, a Calusa Garden Club Yearbook and a rose.

Active Garden Club members reported on recent group gardening activities, including refurbishing the area around the sign of Marco Island Academy and giving community members educational tours of the Butterfly Garden at Calusa Park.

Calusa Garden Club is a member of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs and membership is open to those interested in horticulture, floral design and environmental matters residing five months or more in Collier County.
