HAPPY NEW YEAR from the Everglades Area! After lots of Holiday Festivities, we are now preparing for a busy winter season with several exciting events planned:
The annual Indian Artts Festival, featuring native dancing, crafts, food and music, will be held through January 2 at the Miccosukee Village along the Tamiami Trail from 9:30 am to 5 pm.
The Marco Island Historical Society will be touring historical buildings and homes in Everglades City on January 7 following a presentation on the history of Everglades City at their regular monthly meeting on January 4.
January 8 is the feast day of Deaconess Harriet Bedell and the Museum of the Everglades will be celebrating with a reception from 1 to 3 pm. A presentation on the current exhibit “Murder and Mayhem: the Life and Times of E. J. Watson” will be held on January 13 beginning at 2 pm. The exhibit will be on display through the month of January.
A few other dates to mark on your calendars:
January 22 for the Pancake Fly-In Breakfast at Everglades Airpark, Art-in-the-Glades at McLeod Park, and the Fakahatchee Cruise to Fakahatchee Island.
February 4/5: Seafood Festival with arts/crafts/music/food.
