Spring has sprung and so have the baby burrowing owls on Marco Island!
A family photo from the burrow shows Dad on the perch and Mom amongst the babies keeping guard and watching out for their wide-eyed little ones. Both owl parents were banded last year.
The interactions between the members of the owl family were captured on film, when an older owlet tried it’s best to get Mom’s attention by giving her a little talon touch to the side while making a food request. Mom owl was banded last year, and her chicks and new mate were banded this year.
