Tutus were flying high as the spirit of camaraderie and community was abound at the recent Booty Barre benefit. This creative fundraising was the effort of Booty Barre guru Margaret Peters Lamp, who then enlisted the help of Marco Fitness Club. The benefit included ongoing sessions of Booty Barre workouts and a silent auction. Proceeds from the event went to the aid of local resident Jada Shigley, who is undergoing cancer treatments.

“Jada is one of those rare kind souls. She was the first person I met when I moved to this area 21 years ago. I wanted to do whatever I could to help when I heard about her treatments, and when I began to tell others of the idea, everyone wanted to pitch in to help Jada. It’s wonderful since Jada is known in the community and well-loved for doing whatever she can for others. Her positive attitude affects everyone around her and now we were able to give some of that back.”

Bob Cholka, his wife Jean, son Kyle and Kyle’s wife Nicole Cholka of Marco Fitness Club were all there. Not only did Bob and Kyle wear tutus, showing off their precision at pirouettes, but they were completely hands-on, right down to the floor

exercising, or serving refreshments. Jada was the first to warmly greet people, even while working out as much as she could.

“It was great to have such support. We called on various businesses to help us out with the auction items. Between the silent auction and the Booty Barre workouts we raised about $4,000.00. We couldn’t have done it without support and effort of so many,” said Margaret.
