Sue Monk Kidd, best known for writing The Secret Life of Bees, which has sold over 6 Million copies worldwide, is one of Marco’s most famous residents. She and her husband, Sandy, have long been winter visitors, but have now decided to make Marco Island their permanent home. Her latest book, Traveling With Pomegranates, is co-written with her daughter, Ann Kidd Taylor who just this past year has also become a full-time resident of Marco Island.

They will be making an appearance at Sunshine Booksellers, 677 S. Collier Blvd., Marco Island on Tues., Feb. 15, from 12 – 2 p.m. They will both be speaking about their book and the experience of writing it together. A question/answer period will follow and they will then be available to meet with readers and autograph books.

Traveling With Pomegranates is a book of self-reflection and thought, a beautiful travel memoir as well as a study of the mother – daughter relationship. Set against the backdrops of Greece and France, both women find themselves at a crossroads in their lives and are struggling to redefine themselves. The dual narration helps us to understand both of their perspectives and gives the book a “tennis match” approach that is fun to read. The best part of this book, though, is the rich description of the places they visited. It’s difficult not to close your eyes and imagine you’re there with them. Hope you get a chance to read this delightful book and to meet the authors on the 15th.
