The colorful Blue Mangrove Gallery welcomes new owner, Mike Briem, an artist in his own right.
Originally from St. Charles, Missouri, Briem was a testing technician for an engineering company in his home state. Briem moved to the area in July after purchasing the Blue Mangrove Gallery. The move brought him closer to family, including his recently retired father.
“I visited the store and I liked the energy that was in it,” Briem said. “Part of what I do on the side as a hobby and for fun is I wrap different crystals into necklaces, so I noticed that they had the jewelry line in there and that they use different types of stones and so they drew me to it.”
The store carries a wide variety of jewelry, fine artwork, photography prints, pottery, local soaps, and Marco Island exclusive beads. There is something there to satisfy all tastes. Favorite brands like The Naples Soap Company, GurglePot, Lazy Susans and original local artwork by Tara O’Neill, R.J. Wiley and Nora Butler are placed throughout the store.
Briem says that the store will remain true to its original roots, as he undergoes training from the shop’s previous owner, Christie Marcoplos. Once Briem gets a first-hand feel for the gallery and what the community wants, he may make modifications to accommodate those needs.
Store hours are Monday through Saturday 10 AM to 5 PM and Sundays 11 AM to 4 PM. During September the store is closed on Sundays.
Blue Mangrove Gallery is located at the Marco Town Center Mall, 1089 N. Collier Blvd., Unit 417. Call 239-393-2405 for store promotions.
