Big Cypress Poetry Contest Winners

In honor of National Poetry Month, Big Cypress National Preserve held its second annual poetry contest during the month of April. There were 52 entries this year – a big increase over last year. The large number of entries made the selection process challenging but enjoyable. The winners were selected by the employees of Big Cypress, based on relevance to the preserve and artistic merit.

The annual poetry contest serves as an example of the national preserve’s commitment to supporting art in national park areas and the importance of showcasing the meaning of protected areas to new audiences through art.
