It may still feel like summer but it was definitely autumn at the Local Color Art Gallery’s recent First Friday Art Walk. Ladies were treated to complementary flowery hair clips that were handcrafted by Malenda Trick. The buffet table was a cornucopia of pumpkin and apple inspired dishes, with a centerpiece that boasted of the abundance of a fall harvest.
Creativity was in every corner of the gallery. The artists have refreshed and rearranged their workfor the coming season. New artist at the gallery – Bonnie Hauke has painted her space a soft lilac as background to her glamorous rhinestone encrusted shells, boxes and light catching crystal hangings.
Donald Sunshine is expanding his space adding more of his colorful and whimsical watercolors of local Marco Island scenes.
Also new is a collection of fall necklaces by Lindy Kowalczyk. Burrowing owl magnets by Karen Swanker continue to be a favorite and perfect takehome remembrance of Marco Island. Joanna Sunshine will be filling her space with newly created weavings and fiber art. R. Clark Lindberg, Barbi Dalton, Tom Curtis and Betty Newman have all brought in new creations to kick off the upcoming season.
First Friday was as busy as ever through the summer months and continues as the place to be to see professional art, to enjoy great food and wine, warm conversation with local artists and have a fun evening.
