Artist of the Year… Tara O’Neill

The Marco Island Foundation for the Arts (MIFA) has named local artist, writer and educator, Tara O’Neill, 2015 Artist of the Year. Noted for her vivid oil paintings, Tara exhibits her work in many local shows and public installations. She is represented by Blue Mangrove Gallery in Marco Town Center.

Tara is being honored for her outstanding column in the Coastal Breeze entitled ‘The Artful Life’ in which she focuses on the arts and their importance in our community. Tara also teaches art to adults and children at the Marco Island Center for the Arts.

Tara is a founding member and President of the Goodland Arts Alliance (GAA) nonprofit organization. Now in its 3rd year, GAA is working with Collier County to restore and preserve historic fishing cottages in Goodland FL for future use as art studios. MIFA applauds Tara for her leadership and service to the GAA.

A special luncheon will be held to honor Tara O’Neill on Saturday May 23rd at 11:30am at the Wesley United Methodist Church in their Fellowship Hall. The Marco Island Foundation for the Arts will also be presenting scholarships at this luncheon to local students who intend to study the arts at the college level.

Tickets are $20 per person for the luncheon, which will be catered by Stonewalls. You may reserve your spot at the luncheon by sending a check to the Marco Island Foundation for the Arts, Inc., c/o Carolyn Burger, President, at 282 Sand Hill Street, Marco Island FL 34145. Please include the names of your guests in the memo line on your check. Space is limited, so please send your check early to ensure a seat at this special luncheon.

Tara is an exemplary professional in her field, who is constantly working to foster the arts and improve the world around her. Full of enthusiasm for the arts and local art projects, Tara inspires others to help make our slice of Paradise one where the arts are prized and valued.
