Art has spilled out the doors and onto the front courtyard and lawn of the Marco Island Center for the Arts—the work of Leo Schimanszky, a Viennese-born artist, exhibiting throughout Europe and North America. Check out this new “gallery,” at a champagne and chocolate reception on December 5 from 5:30 to 7 PM. All are welcome to share in the celebration.

A sculptor for more than 40 years, Schimanszky’s large-scale work displays a unique knowledge of materials and their application, in this case steel and fiberglass. His sculptures are big, bold and brightly colored and command the attention of all who pass by. He is also a talented painter, and a number of his paintings, abstracts in bold colors and motifs, will be on display in the Center’s atrium.

The Center’s new sculpture garden is intended to be a place of peace and contemplation, complete with beautiful landscaping, meandering paths, lights and benches (thanks to the generosity of Marco Islander David Rice and Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse in Naples).

The Center for the Arts, located at 1010 Winterberry, is open Monday through Friday from 9 to 4 pm. For more info about this event and others, call 239-394-4221 or visit our website: www.marcoislandart.org.
