The Art League, started in 1969 with 19 members, has grown to 12,000 square feet of space to house gallery, gift shop, library, workshops and classrooms. The Membership is 423 plus 11 corporate members and a $400,000 annual budget.
The Art League held Educational Programs for 681 students this past year. The programs include: Three outdoor shows per year, After School Programs, Sculpting, Clay Studios, Celebrate The Arts, Summer Wine & Arts, Literary and Musical Arts Programs, Marco Artists Studio Tour, Lectures and Demonstrations and Gallery / Exhibit Areas. Over $150,000 in scholarships have been given to encourage education in visual arts.
The first Executive Director served for 25 years. The current Executive Director has served for 6 1./2 years.
They received 8 grant awards last year amounting to $44,500. The state of the art web site is www.MarcoIslandArt.com. pARTy—Hollywood Nights is a successful fund-raising event. The recent fund-raising campaign raised $100,000 in 158 days and has debt free facilities.
