In the Glades, we begin the month of December with the ever-popular Pancake Fly-In. On Saturday, December 1, Wings 10,000 Islands will host a pancake breakfast at the Everglades Airpark from 10:00 AM. until noon. Everyone is welcome! For information, phone Chuck at (239) 695-3296.
The following evening Dr. Roger Hammer, author of Everglades Wildflowers and other books, will be the featured speaker at the Friends of Fakahatchee Dinner/Talk on Sunday, December 2, at the Everglades Seafood Depot. The following weekend our holiday festivities start with our first-of-the-season “Art-in-the-Glades” on Saturday, December 8, from 10:00 AM. to 2:00 PM. in McLeod Park on the Circle. Come do your holiday shopping without the hassle. There will be live music and food for sale at lunch time. If you are interested in participating, you may set up a table atno charge; just phone Marya Repko at (239) 695-2905. Also, on Saturday, December 8, the Friends of the Museum of the Everglades will be hosting a reception for artist Inez Hudson from Marco Island. Her new exhibit titled “Everglades – Near and Dear” will be featured during the month of December in the Pauline Reeves Gallery. Please join us from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. and visit with Inez. Big Cypress National Preserve is now offering this season’s ranger-led activities which runs now through April 14. Programs include: plants, animals, human history, and more.
