The Local Color Art Gallery welcomed back both snowbirds and locals at the “See You In September” First Friday open house. The gallery has been getting ready for season with a fresh look both inside and outside. Thanks to Larry Clark, there is new coat of sunshine yellow paint on the outside of the building. Chandeliers painted with neon colors hang from the eaves and the Mad Hatter mannequin has had quite a total makeover.

Inside during open house, the ample buffet offered guests an array of seafood dishes and tasty finger food tidbits. And on the walls, newly created art ranging from original oils, photography and jewelry to mixed media arrives daily. All artwork is original and is created by the current seven resident artists Betty Newman, Clark Lindberg, Barbi Dalton, Lindy Kowalczyk, Bonnie Hauke, Malenda Trick and Karen Swanker.

The gallery survived Hurricane Irma. We want to hear your stories so, as planned, the gallery will hold this coming month’s First Friday on Friday, October 6th from 5-7 PM. The gallery is located above the Shops of Olde Marco on Royal Palm Drive.
