Marco Island Center for the Arts Board Member and Gala Chairperson Kimberly Porter hosted a patron party for the early sponsors and supporters of The Gala “Celebrate Art by the Sea,” which will take place on February 16, 2019.
This private thank you party was held at the Marco Island Yacht Club with Chef Robert Aylwin II preparing delectable hors d’oeuvres. A tasting of four different rose wines was generously provided by the Folktale Winery & Vineyards in Carmel, California. Keeping with the sea theme, the attendees enjoyed the local band Billie J and the Big Easy.
The 2019 Gala Honorees, Emily and John James, were formally introduced to the patrons. Emily is an internationally famed artist and her husband John is an art advocate and retired CEO from the banking industry. The artwork of Emily James “Celebrate Art by the Sea” is used in Gala advertisements, invitations and is the inspiration for the Gala’s table runners and vignettes.
The attendees were fascinated to watch oil artist Inez Hudson paint the first table runner influenced by the “Celebrate Art by the Sea” theme. These painted table runners will be paired with a variety of art in different mediums for the Silent Auction. Eighteen well-known artists have been asked to creatively participate.
This annual fundraiser benefits Marco Island Center for the Arts mission to promote art education for children and adults; offer monthly exhibitions and special events; as well as, engaging programs that inspire and impact Marco Island, the region and beyond.
Tickets are very limited – individual tickets are $250 and a table of ten for $2,500. The Gala will be held at the Island Country Club on February 16, 2019.
