The Marco Island Public Library and the Marco Island Center for the Arts work cooperatively to provide monthly art shows at the Marco Library branch on Heathwood Drive. Each artist will exhibit for two months. May and June of 2013 will feature the works of Marco Island artist Carolyn Burger.
When Carolyn and her husband, Ron, both retired from public education in northeast Ohio in 1997, they looked forward to coming to Florida and enjoying the sunshine, sailing and just having fun. A few years later, Carolyn was drawn to the painting classes available on Marco Island at the local Art League. Soon she was hooked! What fun to paint the beauty of Florida! There is always a special scene to be painted, whether it is the sky, the water, the vegetation or the animals that share this gorgeous part of the world. Carolyn paints with several different mediums. She is an active member of Marco Island’s Art League, the Marco Island Foundation for the Arts, the Marco Island Chamber of Commerce and the United Art Council of Collier County.
“Learning to see the beauty in life and putting it on canvas has made my life so much fuller. I am so thankful for having discovered painting since my retirement from public education.” she says.
Carolyn enjoyed being part of the Artist Colony at the Esplanade on Marco Island from 2009 to 2012. Now she works in her home studio, creating colorful paintings that capture the beauty and life in southwest Florida. You may also find her in local outdoor art shows during season.
