Arrests made for armed robbery

The following information was released from Captain Dave Baer of the Marco Island Police Department: On July 3rd 2010 at approximately 0221 hours Police Officers from the Marco Island Police Department were dispatched to the Crazy Flamingo located at 1035 North Collier Blvd in regards to a reported armed robbery. Officers were on the scene in less than thirty seconds.

Responding Officers established a perimeter and spoke to the two employees that reported the robbery. The employees stated that at approximately 0215 hours a male dressed in all black, with his face covered entered the restaurant and told the employees to get in the back room and to get the money. The employees stated that the male suspect took the money from them threatening them with a knife and subsequently taped both of the employees to chairs in the back room of the establishment. The employees stated the male then left the building after taking an undetermined amount of cash which was in a green bank money bag. The employees stated they were able to break free from the taped and immediately called the police.

Officers obtained witnesses and collected evidence. Witnesses observed the male leave the area in a dark colored Ford pick-up truck.

Follow-up investigation by Marco Island Police Department Detectives led to the arrest of the suspect, as well as the arrest of one of the alleged victims who confessed to his involvement in the robbery along with the suspect.

The suspect’s vehicle, bank bag, money and the knife have been recovered.

Arrested were: Arnold Lee Ridge (23 years old) who currently resides on Mainsail Dr in Naples and Cory Leavitt Giaquinta [employee] (21 years old) who also resides on Mainsail Dr in Naples.

Both Ridge and Giaquinta have been charged with: Armed Robbery, Grand Theft and False Imprisonment.

The investigation continues into other criminal activity.
