Marco Island Center for the Arts invites interested students to apply to the popular Young Artists Academy. This prominent program offers free art classes for middle and high school students who are talented and are interested in creating art.
To be eligible for the program, a student must be in grades 6-12. Also, grade appropriate home-schooled children can apply to join the Young Artist Academy. This well admired program has a limited number of spaces available and will be filled on a first to apply basis. All applications are date and time stamped so it is advisable that students submit their application forms as quickly as possible. Applications will not be accepted after September 24, 2018.
Classes are offered in clay, painting and comic book creation. Each accepted student will participate in two of the mediums, and will rank their art class preferences in their applications. The Art Center will do its best to honor these requests. Each set of classes runs four weeks. Young Artist Academy classes take place on Saturday afternoons from 1-4 PM. The following are this year’s dates:
- September 29
- October 6, 13, 20, 27
- November 3, 10, 17

The work will be judged and first, second and third place winners will receive cash prizes. This artwork will also be featured in the Art Center’s December newsletter.
