When Hurricane Irma ripped through the island, America Travel suffered damage to their office. But the company worked hard and the office is now better than ever.
During the media coverage of Hurricane Irma, videos of America Travel’s damaged exterior and awning became well known as an image representing the destruction on Marco Island. Owner Ewout Rijk de Vries says, “Clients from all over the world called with their concern when our awning, flopping wildly from the front of the building, showed up on the news everywhere.”The company, on Marco Island for over three decades, thanked the community for the continued support. Ewout says, “We could not have done it without the help of a few Marco Islanders who stepped in despite their own issues. It was truly an experience to see so many people so friendly and helpful.” Ewout offered a very special “thanks” to his neighbors, Dan and Tim of The SpeakEasy restaurant, for their assistance.
Almost 35 years ago, America Travel moved their worldwide business from the Miami Airport to Marco Island, where they plan personalized vacations and counsel travelers. About Marco Island, Ewout says, “Today we still believe it to be the greatest place from which to operate our company.”The company’s attention to detail and personalized service allow them to plan and organize the ultimate dream vacation for their clients. But it is the true love of travel that distinguishes America Travel from other agencies. Everyone in the company has traveled extensively. The vibrant, scenic photography which you can see in their office and on their website is all their own, taken on their own international adventures. They enjoy sharing their experience and knowledge with their clients.
