America became a global household name starting in the early 1970s with the release of their signature #1 single “A Horse With No Name.” America’s follow-up singles – “I Need You,” “Ventura Highway,” “Don’t Cross The River,” “Tin Man,” “Lonely People,” and “Sister Golden Hair” – were cornerstones of 1970s Top 40 and FM rock radio. After winning the Grammy for Best New Artist in 1971, America went on to have six albums certified gold and/or platinum, and their first greatest hits collection hit more than four million in sales.
