Amelia Earhart flies at Rose History Auditorium

photoJanina Birtolo will be appearing in Daring to Dream, an original dramatic portrayal about the life and last flight of Amelia Earhart. This one-woman piece brings Amelia to life and offers an account of the flights that made her famous, as well as the views and attitudes that made her Amelia.

Birtolo was commissioned to write Daring to Dream by the Zonta International chapter in Naples, Florida, to help the organization celebrate its founding and the role that Earhart, a Zonta member, played in the organization. Her research led her to read Doris L.

Rich’s biography of the famed flyer and Earhart’s own account of her first Trans-Atlantic flight, as well as to conduct other extensive research. The piece is designed to be both a biographical story and an encouragement to reach for the stars.

The fully costumed Daring to Dream is a lesson in history and personal quest, wrapped in an entertaining package of humor, disappointment and devotion to one’s dreams.

Come and fly once again with Amelia Earhart through the talent of Janina Birtolo in the Rose History Auditorium on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 7:00 PM.  Marco Island Historical Society members are admitted free, non-members are asked to pay $5.00.
