Birtolo was commissioned to write Daring to Dream by the Zonta International chapter in Naples, Florida, to help the organization celebrate its founding and the role that Earhart, a Zonta member, played in the organization. Her research led her to read Doris L.Rich’s biography of the famed flyer and Earhart’s own account of her first Trans-Atlantic flight, as well as to conduct other extensive research. The piece is designed to be both a biographical story and an encouragement to reach for the stars.
The fully costumed Daring to Dream is a lesson in history and personal quest, wrapped in an entertaining package of humor, disappointment and devotion to one’s dreams.
Come and fly once again with Amelia Earhart through the talent of Janina Birtolo in the Rose History Auditorium on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 7:00 PM. Marco Island Historical Society members are admitted free, non-members are asked to pay $5.00.
