All Aboard for Meals of Hope

Submitted

Marco Island Meals of Hope will hold a “Happy Hour for Hope” on the Marco Island Princess, April 25, 2016 from 5 to 7 PM.

Happy Hour for Hope will feature live entertainment from Rosetta Stone, a buffet of wonderful hors d’oeuvres and reduced price libations. Rosetta Stone will bring her beautiful voice and her performance will grace the happy hour as she has done for years. The event is open to the public with admission donation of only $10.

Chairman Bill Morris is especially excited about this month’s Happy Hour for Hope. “Island Princess has really upped its game for this event and its generosity is much appreciated. The boat will not leave port, so even those who do not want to travel by sea can enjoy the Island Princess.”

The beautiful 90-foot Marco Island Princess normally sails from her dock at Rose Marina cruising the pristine waters of Marco Island. For this event, the Princess stays in port. The Princess is docked at Rose Marina located at 951 Bald Eagle Drive, Marco Island.

Happy Hours for Hope are part of the year-long fundraising effort for Marco’s Meals of Hope. Marco Island Sunrise Rotary, Noontime Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs work together to raise funds for the groups’ annual packaging event. This year’s packaging event is scheduled for November 12, 2016 at Marco Island Charter Middle School. The group needs to raise $50,000 to pay for raw materials used in the packaging event. Last year, the group packaged more than 230,000 meals, all of which was distributed to Collier County needy families.

Each month, a local business sponsors a Happy Hour for Hope. Most of these sponsors are restaurants, but once in a while the event is held at some place different like the Marco Island Princess. According to Morris, “Our restaurant supporters and the Marco Island Princess make our packaging event a success. When we gather at the Marco Island Charter Middle School to package meals, we have already raised the money needed to buy the raw materials. Without the happy hours and financial donations, all the volunteers in the packaging event would be useless.”

Meals of Hope is an IRC 501 (c) (3) charitable entity which packages and distributes meals to needy Collier County families. Donations are accepted and may be sent to Chairman Bill Morris at Law Offices of William G. Morris, P.A., 247 N. Collier Blvd., Suite 202, Marco Island, FL 34145.
