The Marco Island office of the American Cancer Society invites you to take a walk on the wild side the evening of Friday, February 5, 2021, as we go Wild For a Cure at the 2021 American Cancer Society Imagination Ball. Chaired by Debra Shanahan for the ninth consecutive year, this event will offer something a bit different from our previous galas. With a more relaxed dress code of cocktail attire, Wild For a Cure will be held in the great outdoors of the JW Marriott Marco Island.
With extreme gratitude and pride, we welcome our new presenting sponsor, Walker Marine Group. A stalwart presence on the waters of Marco Island for more than 38 years, this full-service Florida marine retail dealer joins us with generous support on our new adventure to hunt down and slay the savage beast called cancer.
As a young couple, Jim and Christine Walker moved to Marco Island from Cape Cod, Massachusetts to begin their family, build their home and pursue their dreams. They started their marine business in 1982 as a Marco Island dockside repair service. Through hard work and dedication, the company has grown to nine locations in Collier and Lee Counties, including 4 full-service marinas and 5 sales locations. With a team of over 100 highly skilled employees, Walker Marine Group embraces a “can do” work ethic to fulfill the company motto of a “customer for life” relationship with those they serve.
The Walker’s philanthropy has included their generous support of Make–A–Wish Foundation of South Florida, an organization that grants life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Walker Marine has conducted “Fish for a Wish,” an annual catch and release tarpon tournament that has raised funds to successfully make a child’s wish come true each year!
Like so many, the Walker family has experienced the heartbreak of a cancer diagnosis among friends, neighbors, and extended family members. It is to this avail that Jim and Christine Walker have stepped forward to support the American Cancer Society in the quest to find a cure.
Save the date now for Wild For a Cure as seating will be limited for this new outdoor venue. The American Cancer Society is dedicated to safeguarding good health for everyone. All CDC guidelines will be strictly followed and enforced at this event.
