Acknowledging MIFA’s successful year

Marco Island Foundation for the Arts’ (MIFA) annual meeting luncheon was held at the Hideaway Beach Club May 18. Highly creative high school graduates, Geoffrey Castillo and Shannon Fowler, each received a $1000 MIFA scholarship.

Businessmen Keith Dameron of Iberia Bank, Nick Campo of Marco Movies, and Frank Delgado of Summit Management for Jack Antaramian received Marco Island Foundation for the Art’s “Artsy” Business Partner Awards for their outstanding contributions to and support of the island’s art community.

Newly elected officers are Sandi Johnson, President, Carol Kincaid, Vice-President, Allie Ellis, Secretary, and  Jim Johnson, Treasurer, Marylee Valvano and Randi Zwicker, founding members of Bonita Strings performed a violin concert of classical favorites.

The mission of MIFA is “To support the visual, literary and performing arts in public places in Marco Island…..believing that the arts can be catalytic in bringing people together  and can complement the spirit of the people who live in a particular location.” To find out more about MIFA go to www.marcoarts.org for information.
