A luncheon has been planned by the Marco Island Foundation for the Arts for Saturday, May 24, at Wesley’s Fellowship Hall. Scholarships will be presented to Marco Island students pursuing college studies in the arts. Scholarship recipients include Christopher Niemczyk, Theodore Schimek, Richard Stein and Tyler MacDonald.
Local artist Melinda Trick also will be honored as “Artist of the Year” for sharing her artistic gifts with our community including the painting of 20 portraits in 2010 for local veterans who served in WW2, Korea and Vietnam. She duplicated the project in 2013-14 for veterans of Sarasota. Trick will be speaking about a special project she is planning for Marco Island this summer.
The Foundation for the Arts wants to invite everyone on Marco Island and the nearby communities to attend the luncheon from 11:30 AM–1:15 PM. Seating is limited, so please send your reservation as soon as possible. Cost is $15 per person, and the menu includes Hawaiian pork with Hawaiian bread; tomato, mozzarella, olive and cucumber salad; potato salad; pina colada cake; punch; and coffee.
