The latest trend is to celebrate your birthday with a fundraiser for your favorite cause. Posts on Facebook show birthday celebrants asking for donations instead of gifts. Gyspy, a seven-year-old mastiff who adopted Dale and Michael Cochran as parents, is one such trendsetter.
The Cochrans hold Gypsy’s party, at where else, but Island Gypsy on Isles of Capri. They supply human food (buffet style) while guests are invited to bring a donation of pet food. Last year, guests donated over 4,000 pounds of dog and cat food at Gypsy’s party. The Humane Society brought their mobile adoption center where one little black kitten found a new forever home.
