A Fiesta of Tacos

Thirteen well-travelled gourmands, members of the Sunshine Sisters of Marco Island took their appetite and sense of adventure across the Jolley Bridge to East Naples to sample a veritable smorgasbord of Tex-Mex tacos.

Tacos & Tequila Cantina (T&T) in Kings Lake Square in East Naples offers both traditional and non-traditional tacos served on either hard or soft shells with choices of corn or flour tortilla.

Tacos are the main attraction at T&T with an impressive selection of their very own creation. Their traditional tacos are made with soft corn tortillas that are lightly grilled or steamed.

They use a variety of Mexican white cheeses such as Oaxaca cheese (“mozzarella of Mexico”), queso blanco or grated Cotija cheese, and garnished with cilantro, onion, fresh lime, and radish. Their meat selection include chorizo, braised chicken, grilled skirt steak, slow roasted pork, or grilled camarones (shrimp) and often topped with chipotle crema sauce.

A basket of their crispy nachos served with a jar of their own light and tangy tomato salsa is served as you deliberate on your taco choices.

Feeling adventurous? Try the Baja Taco with crispy, Shiner Bock beerbattered or grilled mahi-mahi with jalapeno cilantro slaw and avocado crema sauce. Es muy delicioso!

Remember the taco that your mom made? “Mom’s Taco” is served with hard shell, Ortega-style seasoned ground beef, shredded lettuce, tomato and cheddar jack cheese. On Tuesdays, Mom’s Taco is only $2 each and you may combine it with any of T&T tacos.

grilled chicken breast, guacamole, tomato, cilantro and fresh lime on a soft tortilla. You may substitute tequila lime shrimp for the chicken. $1 from each taco will be donated to Wellfit Girls, a local non-profit leadership fitness program for teens.

On Tuesdays and Sundays, the house margarita is two for one, on the rocks all day! Don’t forget to sample the specialty drinks they named the place for.

opening a third location near the FGCU campus. They also own Aldo’s, just next-door.

Tacos and Tequila is an edgy and funky “Tex Mex” restaurant showcasing their taco creations with very non-traditional Mexican décor. You see skulls everywhere depicted a la Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) theme, but not in a creepy Halloween sort of way. T&T also has a shop next door selling t-shirts bearing their logo – a skull wearing a Mexican sombrero.

Tacos & Tequila Cantina is located at 4834 David Blvd., Kings Lake Square, East Naples. The restaurant is open 11 AM-11 PM daily.
