Visual arts and the work of the Marco Island Center for the Arts were feted enthusiastically at the nonprofit’s annual gala. Dubbed, “Celebrate Art by the Sea,” the affair attracted a large crowd of aficionados and supporters, all dressed to the “nines,” to the Island Country Club banquet room.
There, they enjoyed dinner, dancing, cocktails and auctions, both silent and live, of artwork, fine wines, trips to exciting destinations and more. The proceeds benefit the Center for the Arts, which is celebrating its 50thanniversary this year. Among the gala’s highlights was a special “Fund a Need” auction to raise funds to improve the gallery’s lighting and audio-video system, and to expand and upgrade the gallery’s footprint.
“We are trying to move from being the Arts Center that could to being the Arts Center that can in the 21st Century,” the facility’s Executive Director Hyla Crane said before the auction began.
