A Bit of ‘Whimsy’

Marco Island Center for the Arts invites the public to a bit of whimsy on exhibit now until June 27, 2017, weekdays from 9 AM-4 PM. This fanciful mixed-media exhibition will take you to “a smiley place.” It is meant to be odd, fun and fantastic.

“Whimsy”- Mixed Media is being showcased in the Exhibition Gallery. The opening reception called, “Second Tuesday,” is from 5:30-7 PM on June 13th. No reservations are required. There is a suggested $10 donation for non-members.

The judge for this show was Don Long, a former college teacher and potter from Atlanta, Georgia. He is now the president of

the Art Council of South- West Florida (ACSWF). The Art Center will be hosting the ACSWF Spring show in March 2018.

In the La Petite Galerie, artist Mary P. Kane is exhibiting work that highlights her artistic expertise across many mediums.

She began her studies in Miami, Florida, then continued in Malibu, California, and finally returned

back to Florida. Mary P. Kane is currently a resident of Marco Island. The circle is now complete.

Food for the “Second Tuesday” opening reception is generously provided by Pinchers restaurant, located at 591 South Collier Boulevard on Marco Island. Pinchers is a local seafood shack chain known for its crab dishes, fried fish and other shore favorites. Their mission is “Local fishermen fishing local waters for a local restaurant. You can’t get a more Southwest Florida experience than that.”
