Just before the social distancing to combat the Coronavirus hit, Treviso Bay held its 6th Annual Breast Cancer Week of Giving. We are pleased to announce that because of your generosity, commitment and continued support of the Treviso Bay community, we were able to raise $118,000 during our Breast Cancer Week of Giving.
The week was one of extraordinary fun and activity, beginning with a 5K run, Paws Fur Pink pet parade, Cocktail Party, Tennis Tournament, Women’s Golf, Men’s Golf Tournament, Pickleball Tournament, and concluded with a spinathon Cycle for Hope. Participation at each event was beyond our expectations. The cocktail party, attended by Collier County District 1 Commissioner, commented that she was amazed at the size of the turnout, and they were only Treviso Bay residents. The chairwoman of the committee, Kathleen Christiansen, noted that over the week, the energy and dedication of all the participants, the army of volunteers that collect donations, and the local businesses that sponsor events and donate money provide the inspiration to continue our mission to help men and women in Collier County in their struggles against breast cancer, as well as to find a cure.
This week-long event involves the full Treviso Bay community of residents and organization is led by six community women (Kathleen Christiansen Chairwoman, Robin Spillman, Ginny Tocci, Mary Kay Ferrell and Natalia Armstrong) that start their organization process in October as community members begin to return for Winter Season. Working closely with Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and American Cancer Society’s Naples office, most of the funds raised stay in the Collier County helping breast cancer patients in the fight. Resident and participant, Chris Sandel, commented, “What a difference a week makes. One week later and this all would have been cancelled.”
As a result of the communities’ overall support and true spirit of giving the amount raised this year eclipses the 2019 event by 34%. This positions Treviso Bay as the #1 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer third party event donor in both Collier and South West Florida.
