On Saturday, the Ben Allen Band kept the crowds entertained while they were out strolling along Smokehouse Bay sampling a variety of chili. While everyone was having a great time, lots of chefs were stirring their pots, dressing up their booths or enticing guests to taste their creations.
The 18 chili-making participants were: Market Place Home Mortgage, Spice Girls Cooking Club, Jim Richards for Council, Jerry Swiacki for Council, Jim Moon for County Judge, Boat & Auto Upholstery Repair (Patriots), Speakeasy Restaurant, Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort, Mango’s Dockside Bistro, Island Country Club, JW Marriott, Marco Island Yacht Club, Sunrise Rotary, Marco Island Police Foundation, San Marco Knights of Columbus, City of Marco Island Utilities Department, Marco Island Fire Rescue Department and Sullivan’s Brigade.
The main sponsors for the event were CJ’s on the Bay and Siegel Dental.
The annual event is hosted by the Marco Island Fire Rescue Foundation and is held in memory of Jerry Adams, a local fire fighter who lost his battle with cancer. Proceeds from this year’s event will go to those first responders who were severely affected by Hurricane Michael, many of whom lost their personal belongings and homes.
