5K Fun Run Supports Shelter for Abused Women

Register now for Marco Island’s Hands Are For Helping 5K Fun Run, which takes place on October 15 and benefits The Shelter for Abused Women & Children.

This is a non-timed event that encourages participation from all ages and activity levels. There will be runners, walkers and spectators at the event. All kids under 18 are free. In addition to the run/walk there will be food and drinks, games, and a variety of booths to browse that are both fun and educational.

Even if you don’t run, there will be plenty of activities and ways you can help support The Shelter. One way is to come and donate toiletries such as combs and hairbrushes, deodorant, feminine products, mouthwash, shampoo and conditioner, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and razors. The Hands Are For Helping Fun Run is more than just a 5K run- this event is about family, friends and fun. It is a community event designed to get information to the public in a fun way while supporting our local domestic violence shelter.

The Shelter serves the community with emergency shelter, transitional housing, counseling and education. Domestic violence affects women and children in all walks of life. The Shelter helps to transforms lives on Marco Island and throughout the county.
