Celebrating its 28th year, the annual Prayer Breakfast has been a long-standing event on Marco Island. This year it will be held February 1, 2011 and is privileged to have Dr. Phil Burgess as guest speaker. Dr. Burgess is an educator, writer and businessman. He spent 19 years on the faculties of Ohio State University, University of Colorado and the Colorado School of Mines. At Ohio State, he also directed the Behavioral Sciences Laboratory, a major university level research facility. He’s served as a visiting professor at UCLA Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and University of Southern California. He has authored nine books including Reboot to Work! What to do when your career is over but your life isn’t? The book will be released in March 2011.
Dr. Burgess was Executive Vice-President of Corporate Affairs of US West Communications 1999-2000and Group Managing Director of Telstra Communications Corporation located in Sydney, Australia from 2005-2008.
In addition to being a Fulbright Scholar with a PhD from the American University, he has raced in a Transatlantic sailboat race and captained various passages through the Great Lakes, Pacific Northwest and mid-Atlantic waterways.
His topic for the 7:30 am breakfast at the Marco Island Marriott will be ‘Finishing Well.” Tickets are $20 are available at the Chamber of Commerce and houses of Worship.
