The Marco Island Chamber of Commerce welcomed their 2021 Board of Directors and Executive Committee on January 22nd at the Bistro Soleil at the Olde Marco Inn. Dohm started her comments by acknowledging the challenging year the Chamber and local businesses endured during 2020. She talked about the efforts of the Chamber to be “caretakers of the business community” and the efforts taken to keep them up and running during a pandemic. One way was constantly communicating on everything from government assistance programs to the many executive orders coming out of the State. But the Chamber’s thoughts were not just on business. They also wanted to help the entire community. Besides answering questions on the hundreds of calls coming into the Chamber, they also created a “service survey” that allowed them to let everyone know who was open and what services those businesses were providing.
Special recognition was given to Donna Niemczyk, who volunteered her time while being furloughed. Niemczyk’s “Let’s Just Get It Done” attitude kept the Chamber office running smoothly. Also recognized was Marie Lynn McChesney, a volunteer since 2006, who gladly took on additional responsibilities. Dohm acknowledged both women’s love of the Chamber and thanked them profusely.
Dohm presented outgoing President, Rick Siegel, with a plaque and thanked him for his service and dedication to the Chamber these past two years. She then introduced Tiffany Homuth as the new Marco Island Chamber of Commerce President.
