2012 Hunger Walk Needs Sponsors

The 4th annual WINK News Feeds Families Hunger Walk Kickoff Breakfast, hosted by Northern Trust Bank, was held recently. The main topic of discussion was the need for sponsorships by businesses or individuals. Lois Thome, WINK news anchor, is the honorary chair of the 2012 event, which will be held on Saturday, January 21, at Miromar Outlets, Estero. The walk is a major fund raiser for the Harry Chapin Food Bank.

Presenting sponsors for the 2012 event are Panera Bread, Garden Street Iron & Metal, and JoAnna and Wilson Bradshaw. Co-chairs of the event are Sandy Robinson, Northern Trust Bank, and Dr. Brian Schwartz, 21st Century Oncology.

This year’s goal for the Hunger Walk is $250,000, which will result in $1,500,000 in food being distributed to our area’s hungry through the food bank’s 186 participating agencies in Southwest Florida. Last year’s Hunger Walk had over 500 participants who raised more than $215.000. All of the money generated by the Hunger Walk will go to feed children and families in need. This has been a very difficult year for many of our neighbors and the dozens of emergency food programs served by the Harry Chapin Food Bank are in critical need for food.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. Those interested in becoming a sponsor or providing support for the Hunger Walk should contact Marta Hodson, 334-7007, ext. 132, or email martahodson@harrychapinfoodbank.org.
