“2 BUCK BANDANA DRIVE” BENEFITS LOCAL RESCUE GROUPS

In lieu of buying yet another year of holiday gifts for her family and friends, Kathleen Menchero, the owner of Top Dog Kitchen, decided to do something much better with her money. She decided to purchase as many dog and cat bandanas her budget could afford with her holiday gift cash and start a fund raising drive for the countless dogs, cats and wolves at the local rescue shelters. And for 2 bucks, anyone can help with this furry cause.

“I wanted to collect donations on a larger and broader scale this year and this idea just came to me. It’s fun, affordable and the bandanas are made in the USA by a mom in Missouri!” says Menchero. Last year, she collected pocket change for Brooke’s Legacy Animal Rescue at the local area farmers markets where she sells her “handmade in Naples” line of boutique treats for cats and dogs. This year, she’ll not only collect again for Brooke’s, but will also include Collier County Domestic Animal Services and the Shy Wolf Sanctuary.

As an entrepreneur for over 6 years with her naturally good dog and cat treats that are corn, wheat and soy free, she bakes with absolutely no added animal fats, salts, dyes, sugars or preservatives. All are made with high quality, human grade ingredients. But her passion and devotion go beyond her cooking and baking. “I love to help people and teach them what I know and continue to learn about pet and human nutrition. I’ve been through a lot of health challenges myself and have had to overcome cancer and acute auto immune skin problems that I still deal with. Our customers and their awesome pets keep me going and bring so many rewarding smiles to my face.” says Menchero. She has been an avid volunteer and fundraiser for several charities over the years including the Humane Society of Broward County’s Walk for the Animals and a pet therapy volunteer, Humane Society Naples, Brooke’s Legacy Animal Rescue and Naples Dog Park. She is now also a proud DIG Sponsor at Naples Botanical Garden and a 2013 Shy Wolf Sanctuary calendar drive sponsor.

For a $2.00 minimum donation, Top Dog Kitchen will donate a majority of the proceeds to the three rescue groups. The bandanas motifs are in nostalgic holiday prints, fit all sizes of dogs and cats and are available in the months of November and December. They can be purchased at the following farmers markets or directly at 239.331.8143 or sales@topdogkitchen.com and the Brooke’s Legacy Animal Rescue adoptions at Petco every weekend (6424 Naples Blvd.): Third Street South and Shoppes at Vanderbilt markets on Saturday mornings and Marco Island on Wednesday mornings.
