Home Decorating Winner – the Giannone family, 151 Channel Court
Business Property Decorating Winner – Nacho Mama’s (Mission Plaza)
The Decorating Contest Final judging took place on December 14 by the entire committee aboard a trolley supplied by the Naples Transportation and Tours Company.
Plaques were presented to the 10 Home Contest Finalists before returning to the winning home at 151 Channel Court. The House Decorating winner received a Championship plaque, yard sign and check for $250.00. Funding for the program is supplied by premiere sponsor, LCEC. Home owners, the Giannone family, generously donated the funds to “Toys for Tots”. The announcement was followed by a tumultuous applause by the committee and members of the car caravan who had followed the trolley throughout the evening. Prior to judging, the committee met at the Centennial Bank, who, as a sponsor, provided “tailgate” food and beverages”.
The contest, Chaired by Dave Rice since 1997, has been a tremendous success. Every year more and more of Marco Island’s residents and business owners get involved in contributing to the holiday spirit and the committees theme “Light Up Marco”..
The rules state that winners cannot repeat as winners for 5 years to ensure the opportunity for others to be successful. However, many prior winners still decorate and set very high standards for everyone.
The committee, invites residents and guests to enjoy driving about the island to view the beautiful homes and properties decorated for the Christmas Season. Summed up Dave Rice, “thanks to all those property owners who participated in “Lighting Up Marco” and making our island the special place that it is”.
