The 10th annual Tour de Marco bicycle tour is set to go Sunday morning, February 23rd at the YMCA of South Collier-Marco YMCA at 101 Sandhill Street on Marco Island. The event starts and finishes at the Y.

The Tour de Marco has been described as the most beautiful bicycle tour in SW Florida because of the many scenic views it provides its riders.

The annual bicycle tour features 15 and 30 miles rides that wind throughout the island. This year the route has been tweaked by organizers to offer an even better bicycling experience for the riders.

Marco Island Academy Key Club members receive instructions from tour director Tony Delucia prior to last year’s Tour de Marco.

Event organizer Tony Delucia of the Y is excited that the tour is celebrating a milestone with its 10th running. Delucia has been part of all 10 tours.

“We’ve had 10 glorious years of providing and promoting bike safety on Marco Island,” Delucia said, “with the assistance of the City Bike Path Committee and numerous volunteers.”

Both the 15 and 30mile rides take participants on picturesque tours of the island, including the hilly estates area. Riders are often surprised to learn that there are hills on Marco Island. Both routes contain beautiful water views and bridge crossings.

Riders can sign up online at active.com or at marcoymca.org by February 20th. Pre-registration is $45/individual. $75/Family. There is a $10 late fee for registration on the day of the ride. For more details or questions, email:commrelations@marcoy.org.
