10th Annual Food and Music Festival

Ten years ago, Rotarian Stan Niemczyk asked his club if they would support a festival type fundraiser. They listened and agreed, and soon the Noontime Rotary Club and the Kiwanis Club joined in with his Sunrise Rotary Club. Over the years, the festival has grown in popularity and is now relied on for great music, food, shopping and fun.

“Last year was a blockbuster year,” said Dianna Dohm, who is on the Food and Music Festival board of directors with Stan. “Our numbers and attendance this year were on par with last year.” According to Stan, it is the proper mix of a good menu with quality food, a great entertainment line-up, something for the kids, and a combined effort of an army of volunteers that make this annual festival a signature Marco Island event. “Each year we get together to discuss what improvements we can make and each year we get a little better than the year before.” Thousands of people poured through the gates, soaked up the sun and good sounds. Headliners included the Ben Allen Band, the Manipulators, Almost Abba and Deb and the Dynamics. The weather couldn’t have been better for the three-day festival. Of the money raised, 100% goes to the philanthropic efforts of the three service clubs on island.
